WHAT IS ZIPLINE : A zip-line (also known as a flying fox, foodie slide, zip wire, aerial runway, aerial rope slide, death slide or Tyrolean crossing consists of a pulley suspended on a cable mounted on an incline. It is designed to enable a user propelled by gravity to travel from the top to the bottom of the inclined cable, usually made of stainless steel, by holding on or attaching to the freely moving pulley. Zip-lines come in many forms, most often used as a means of entertainment. They may be short and low, intended for child's play and found on some playgrounds. Longer and higher rides are often used as a means of accessing remote areas, such as a rainforest canopy. Zip-line tours are becoming popular vacation activities, found at outdoor adventure camps or upscale resorts, where they may be an element on a larger challenge or ropes course.
A zip line is a means of moving people or equipment over rough or pristine terrain using a cable and special zip line trolley system. There are many variations and uses. The most common use of the term is that of a ride. As an adventure ride, the zip line usually traverses over beautiful landscape or dense rainforest or desert canyons. The rider fastens into a harness or seat and launches out over the expanse. It is a thrilling ride, moving quickly and covering rugged terrain. Zip line rides slow to a landing speed as the line levels out naturally at the other end. Often there will be a platform or ground features that meet the rider just at the end. This occurs naturally because of the sag in the cable. The designer ensures the cable tension is not too tight and not too loose. Tight zip line cables will tend to keep the ride at a relatively constant speed, while a line with less tension will start fast and slow down near the end.

What is the best angle for a zip line? The best angle for a zip line is a 45-degree angle. This angle provides the best combination of speed and safety. How do you install a zipline without trees? A zipline is a cable that is strung between two points, typically trees, and used for recreation or transportation. There are a few ways to install a zipline without trees. One way is to use towers. Towers can be made of wood, steel, or concrete and must be tall and strong enough to support the weight of the zipline and riders. Guyed masts are another option. Guyed masts are tall poles that are secured to the ground with guy wires. The mast must be tall and strong enough to support the weight of the zipline and riders.
How to build Zip Line & Sky Zip Cycle by SAM Zip Line...
SAFE & SUSTAINABLE ZIP LINES
Our all the zip lines & rope course that we build are built by the European Safety Standard EN 15567:2007 & American National Safety Standard {We are also member of PRCA, USA Approved by ANSI, American National Standards Institute} and are tested and certified before completion. Active Constructions builds high quality ziplines with a strong presentation. By using different materials and finishing techniques we are able to give every zipline the desired look, whether it’s a natural ‘look & feel’, an industrial setting or complete theme creation.
SITE SELECTION : Prior to installing your zip line an appropriate location must be selected. You will need a clear runway for your zip line with a sturdy anchor on both ends, and enough slope in the cable to propel your participants from one end to the other. Although there are relatively few locations where a zip line cannot be installed, some locations will provide for a safer and more enjoyable ride than others.
CENTER DISMOUNT : The center dismount is hung with a considerable belly or drape in the cable. The rider launches and speeds down to the center then starts up the other side. The rider slows to a stop before reaching the end of the cable and slides back down to the low point (not always the center) where they are dismounted using a ladder or removable platform. Center dismount zips can be as long as 5,000 feet without specialized equipment. The weight of the rider, trolley type, and wind speed are not significant factors for center dismount zips.
WALK-UP LANDING : Zip Lines or Walk-up landing Zips are used for most commercial canopy tours and zip line tours where riders go from one end to the other and land on a platform or ground near the very end of the zip line cable. The weight of the rider, wind speed, and type of pulley/trolley used will affect the speed and the landing for each rider. The longer the cable, the more unpredictable the landing speed. A variety of new braking systems have really improved safety and allowed for faster rides and more predictable landing speeds.
TOWER to TOWER : These designs are gaining popularity mostly with amusement parks, water parks and other closed venues. Typically these are less than 800′ zip lines and will have multiple cables going back and forth. Pre-engineered steel tower designs are available. These zip line towers are usually built with stair cases to easily accommodate a variety of ages and abilities.
POLE & STEEL MOUNT ZIP LINES : Allow for complete control over length, landing speed, heights and configuration. MS/Steel Pole zips can be designed to accommodate almost any zip line design need. Zip lines can be designed over canyons, cliffs and open range up to over 5,000 feet.
